STANWICH SCHOOL – Thanks to student government, for the first time, Stanwich students were encouraged to attend Greenwich Country Day School’s (GCDS) homecoming and football game.

The football game took place on a Friday Night.  Not only GCDS students, but also some Stanwich students were playing in the game, as they previously merged into one Upper School team.  Although the GCDS football team lost 0-26 against Long Island Lutheran, the spirits of students during the game and the bonfire showed students’ tiger pride.

On the Saturday following the football game, GCDS held its homecoming filled with festivities.  The family-friendly function included a Girls Field Hockey game and both Varsity Boys and Varsity Girls Soccer games; as well as performances from GCDS dancers and Jazz Band.

Stanwich freshmen, Cooper Johnson who attended GCDS previously, attended Homecoming over that weekend.

“Boys Varsity Soccer lost 2-1 and Girls Varsity Soccer won 4-0.  They also raised $4,200 for ALS,” he reported.

There were also activities, such as the walkathon and the cross country run.  Homecoming also included a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new middle school at the GCDS campus.  In addition to a bake sale, there was a barbecue lunch for everyone.

With the help of student government and student involvement, we will be sure to have more GCDS and Stanwich integration activities in the future.
